An autonomous region of Italy, Sardinia is the second largest island of the Mediterranean. It sits west of Naples and the Amalfi coast, and south of the French island of Corsica. From mainland Italy, access is via sea ferry from Genoa to Porto Torres, Livorno to Olbia, and Naples to Cagliari, the island’s capital.

The town of Alghero, which I visited some years ago, has some interesting historical facts in that it has two languages – a dialect of Catalan (Spanish from Catalunya), and Italian. This is unique for Italy. It is also home of one of my favourite wine producers Sella and Mosca. Their ‘La Cala’ Vermentino and their Marchese di Villamarina are two outstanding wines that never fail to please.

Wine lesson over, our road freight services to and from Italy also include Sardinia which is controlled via our Italian partners from Milan. A daily service provides for a transit time of 2-3 days from Milan for most destinations, including also the transport of dangerous goods which we regularly transport to the Sardinian towns of Sassari and Cagliari for some of our clientele.
