Tuscany & Central Italy

The region of Tuscany encompasses the regions of Arezzo, Florence, Grosseto, Livorno, Lucca, Massa and Carrara, Pisa, Prato, Pistoia and Sienna. It is one of the most beautiful regions in Italy, or at least so I am told. Whilst having visited many areas of Italy, Tuscany currently eludes me.

Some of the main produce from the area consists of marble and granite from Massa and Carrara, leather goods from Florence, and some of the most famous wines of Italy such as Chianti and the super-tuscans; Brunello di Montalcino and Sassicaia, the latter with a hefty price tag!

On the Eastern side of Italy opposite Tuscany, along the Adriatic coastline are some very important commercial areas, as well as very popular holiday locations. Starting at Ravenna, working your way down the coast you pass Rimini and Pesaro, where shortly after you reach Ancona, one of the main ports in the Adriatic Sea.

  • Our road freight services to and from the various parts Tuscany are primarily via Milan for groupage consignments, and for part-loads and above we generally collect and deliver directly with international trailers.
  • Our road freight services to and from the Eastern coastal areas between Ravenna and Ancona are served via both Milan and Verona depots for groupage consignments, whilst larger consignments are collected and delivered directly on international trailers, particular on imports as Ancona is a return route for trailers coming back from Greece empty for reloading.

A recent development (latter part of 2012), and a market which we are looking to progress further into, is the transport of waste products. Every week we are transporting waste to Arezzo for several UK customers. The regulations are very involved, and depending on the type of waste, obtaining approval can be an arduous task. However, we are making small steps in the right direction and gaining experience on a daily basis. We hope to introduce the carriage of waste into other areas of our business.
