The South of Spain has become an integral part of our Spanish business, and an area where we have seen a lot of our growth. As already said, if it has a Spanish postcode, we go. And it is more than likely that this approach has been instrumental in enabling Ital Logistics to become one of the leading northern consolidators of freight between the UK and Iberia.
Smaller shipments of 1 or 2 pallets are currently delivered via our Madrid partners’ depot, whereas we try and deliver shipments greater than this direct of trailer in order to reduce costs to our clients and improve transit times, not to mention, mitigating the risk of transhipment damage. Many of our international trailers will make multiple deliveries as, unlike a quick ‘there and back’ trip to Northern Spain, our Southern hauliers take advantage of the extra deliveries to increase their income whilst getting them back to their home town for bringing up their batch of oranges!
- Our export freight service to the South of Spain, serving Cadiz and Malaga on the coast, and inland destinations such as Seville, Cordoba and Granada, is at least twice-weekly, departing every Tuesday and Friday as a minimum
- Our import service at present is via our Madrid partners’ depot which departs every Tuesday and Friday. It takes an extra 24 hours from Southern Spain to Madrid. Direct part loads from Southern Spain can be managed any day where there is trailer availability
From our own experience, the type of goods being shipped to this area of Spain have changed in recent years and we are transporting a wider range of commodities. The largest growth is in the chemical sector which has increased almost tenfold. Additional commodities featuring high our list are machinery, veterinary products, pharmaceuticals, garments and textiles, not forgetting Gin!
Key tip: If you need to export a one or two pallet shipment to Malaga, you should ask if your client has a fork lift truck. 7 out of 10 shipments usually require a tail lift vehicle.
