Safety Advisor

ADR 2005 Chapter 1.8.3.1 - “Each undertaking, the activities of which include the carriage, or the related packing, loading, filling or unloading, of dangerous goods by road are required by law to appoint one or more safety advisors for the carriage of dangerous goods, responsible for helping to prevent the risks inherent in such activities with regard to persons, property and the environment.”

This appointment may be by consultancy agreement, or by the direct employment and training of a member of staff to act as a safety advisor.

Our commitment

I decided that as Managing Director of ITAL Logistics it was my duty to take on this role, and was pleased to pass the examinations and become a Dangerous Goods Safety Advisor (DGSA) in April 2004.

It is only too often that we see goods arrive in our depot inadequately packed, marked incorrectly, and even more importantly, documented incorrectly. Many companies have in the past ‘buried’ the hazard with other goods and flaunted the rules, only concerned with profitability. In my opinion ignorance is no longer an excuse, as these rules are widely publicised to chemical companies, packing companies and freight forwarders alike.

At ITAL Logistics we take the matter of transporting goods which are hazardous very seriously indeed, and do our utmost to ensure that they are carried in compliance with the rules of ADR & IMDG.

If you want to ship your Dangerous goods with the peace of mind that they are being transported in compliance with the relevant regulations, please do not hesitate to contact us.
